Section 01
Acceptance of these Terms
These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of the Miroa iOS and iPadOS application and related services (the "Service"). By downloading, accessing, or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
Section 02
The Service
Miroa is a private journal for capturing thoughts as video and audio recordings, with on-device transcription, organisation, and optional context stamps. Features may change over time.
Section 03
Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old, or the minimum age of digital consent in your jurisdiction, to use the Service.
Section 04
Your account
You can use Miroa with an anonymous account or by signing in with Apple or Google. You are responsible for activity that occurs under your account and for keeping your device and credentials secure.
Section 05
Your content
You own your recordings, transcripts, and everything you create in Miroa. We do not claim ownership of your content.
Your content is stored on your device and, if you enable iCloud, in your own private iCloud container. You grant us only the limited permission necessary to operate the Service on your behalf (for example, processing transcription on-device and syncing through your iCloud). You are responsible for the content you record and must have the right to record it.
Section 06
Acceptable use
You agree not to use the Service to:
- record or store content that is unlawful, or that infringes the rights of others;
- record people without any consent required by the law that applies to you;
- attempt to reverse-engineer, disrupt, or circumvent the Service or its security; or
- misuse the support channels (for example, spam or abuse).
Section 07
Device permissions
Camera — record video entries.
Microphone — record audio entries.
Speech Recognition — transcribe recordings on-device.
Location (While Using the App) — optional city-level context stamps.
Face ID / biometrics — optional app and per-entry locking.
Notifications — optional ritual reminders and flashbacks.
You control these permissions in iOS Settings. Denying a permission disables the related feature only.
Section 08
Notifications (optional)
If you opt in, Miroa may send local notifications (such as your daily ritual reminder and flashback prompts) and push notifications for account or device events. You can disable notifications in iOS Settings at any time.
Section 09
Subscriptions and billing
Miroa offers paid features through in-app purchases.
- Plans include a monthly subscription, an annual subscription (which may include a free trial), and a one-time lifetime purchase. Current prices and terms are shown at the time of purchase.
- Payments are processed by Apple via StoreKit, with RevenueCat as our purchase infrastructure provider.
- Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, through your Apple ID subscription settings (Settings → your name → Subscriptions).
- Refunds are handled according to Apple's policies, unless otherwise required by law.
Section 10
Free and premium plans
The free plan includes a limited number of entries per month and a limited number of series. Premium removes these limits and unlocks additional features as described in the app. The specific limits and premium features may be adjusted over time and are shown in the app.
Section 11
Third-party services
The Service relies on third-party services including Apple (iCloud, WeatherKit, StoreKit), Google (Firebase authentication, analytics, crash reporting, push messaging), Mixpanel (analytics), and RevenueCat (purchase infrastructure). Your use of those services may be subject to their own terms and privacy policies. See our Privacy Policy for details on data handling.
Section 12
Intellectual property
The Miroa app, its name, design, and software are owned by us and protected by intellectual-property laws. These Terms do not grant you any right to our trademarks or branding. Your own content remains yours, as described in Section 05.
Section 13
Termination
You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if we believe you have violated these Terms, or where necessary to protect the Service, other users, or to comply with law.
Deleting the app does not necessarily delete data stored in your iCloud. See the Privacy Policy section "Deleting your data" for details.
Section 14
Disclaimers
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE." TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, MIROA DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, MERCHANTABILITY, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT TRANSCRIPTION WILL BE ACCURATE OR THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE.
Section 15
Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, MIROA WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, OR REVENUE, ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR MAINTAINING YOUR OWN BACKUPS OF YOUR CONTENT.
Section 16
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the Service operator is established, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, except where mandatory consumer-protection law in your country of residence applies.
Section 17
Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will update the "Last updated" date above and may provide additional notice as required by law. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
